The Blue Highway
Project: Educational poster | Client: Australian Coral Reef Society | Year: 1998
The Blue Highway poster, produced with the Australian Coral Reef Society (ACRS), illustrates ecosystem connectivity between the Great Barrier Reef and it's catchments using the life cycle of the Red Emperor as an example. Conceived, written and produced by Russell Kelley, artwork by Gavin Ryan. This publication was based on information synthesised from a team of scientists lead by Dr Mike Cappo. This landmark product introduced and visualised the importance of a "whole of system" approach to marine park management of the GBR and informed the public relations conversation during the controversial rezoning of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. The poster has been reprinted 3 times and adapted in several other territories worldwide.
